Is Travis Kelce pulling a Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson?

The superstar athlete and famous boyfriend of Taylor Swift appears to have his heart set on a future in Hollywood, and that future begins with his first-ever dramatic acting role in Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie. The first trailer for the FX series, which stars Niecy Nash as a detective on a gruesome, cult-adjacent mass-murder case, dropped on September 4, giving us our first glimpse of the handsome NFL tight end’s acting chops.

The cynic in me can’t help but feel like this is a stunt casting in the vein of Kim Kardashian’s multiple collaborations with Murphy—especially considering Kelce introduces the trailer, teasing that viewers might see some “familiar faces”—however, that doesn’t mean he won’t be good! It’s too soon to tell if John Cena should be worried about some competition in the jock casting pool, but at least Kelce looks good on camera. Charm definitely isn’t this man’s problem.

According to IMDB, Kelce appears in all 10 episodes of the show, which premieres on September 25. And if Taylor Swift’s boyfriend wasn’t enough of a draw for you, the show also stars Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville. Plus, according to the trailer, it appears there’s a Hot Priest character? Long live Hot Priest archetype, amen.

In addition to Grotesquerie, Travis Kelce will appear in Happy Gilmore 2, which is currently in preproduction, and he is in talks to star in the forthcoming action comedy Loose Cannons. Wait, you want more Kelce, you say? Great, he also signed on to host the Amazon Prime game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, and his podcast, which he cohosts with his brother Jason Kelce, was just picked up by Amazon’s Wondery in a deal reportedly worth upward of $100 million.

Oh, and football! The Super Bowl winner is returning to that on Thursday. Go team, etc.
