Nicole Kidman has arrived in Venice to make two things very clear when it comes to fashion: a black dress is always a good idea, and if your shoes are comfortable, you will walk well and therefore you will look and feel elegant. Kidman made this statement with just one look, the one she wore to disembark in the city of canals and take her first walk in front of the media.

Tonight, if the Venetian agenda is fulfilled, Kidman will step on the red carpet in what will undoubtedly be a spectacular dress. They always are in her case thanks to her class and the work of stylist Jason Bolden. But while we wait for this second appearance, it’s time to analyze the small details of this first outfit, specifically her Bottega Veneta Cha Cha mules.

This is a pair in white quilted fabric with a “fishtail” heel. The pair is so-called because its shape is reminiscent of the tail of a fish, and its comfort and elegance are more than proven. The fact that the base of the heel is wider—not as happens with, for example, the more popular stiletto heel—makes it easier to walk, avoiding the typical imbalances that accompany the models with thin heels. Though Nicole Kidman stepped onto dry land after a short boat ride, there was no plan to gamble on stability.

Now then, let the red carpet begin.
