It’s been a very glamorous few days for Amal Clooney, who has treated us to a whole series of stunning looks while supporting her husband, George Clooney, on the press run for his film Wolfs at the Venice International Film Festival.
First, she kicked things off with a white leather strapless dress for a Cartier party. Then she slipped into a chiffon yellow minidress for strolling alongside the Grand Canal. The international human rights lawyer wore a midnight blue strappy gown for an evening of socializing with George, before finally choosing a pale lemon yellow corseted lace dress to take to the red carpet. And while each outfit was exquisite, her hair was undeniably the showstopper.
Mark my words: Everyone you know will be wearing wedge heels next spring.
Debuting a lighter hair color, Amal had blonde and caramel highlights sprinkled through her dark brown hair to lift her deep brunette base color. For her first hair look (which can be seen here), her hairstylist and makeup artist Dimitris Giannetos described her long, straight, voluminous style as the “Italian Sophia Loren blowout,” nodding to old-school Italian film history. The thick, swishy style gave us all the hairspo we needed.
The second style was a little looser, but still with tons of bounce and volume—and the wavy texture made the ribbons of caramel highlights through Amal’s waist-length hair stand out even more.
The third style was slightly side-flipped to create extra oomph through Amal’s long, layered hair (long layers can be notoriously difficult to coax volume from). You can see that photo here.
Last, but certainly not least, Amal’s fourth style was sleek and straight through the roots, then waved just at the ends to create some flirty movement. Again, Amal’s hair was flipped to the side, with her pale yellow Versace corset dress really bringing out the gold tones in her highlights.
Amal Clooney has always had goddess-like hair.… but the math isn’t mathing for us. Her full hair and long-layered length shouldn’t be that swooshy, but Giannetos gave his followers a behind-the-scenes of the exact products he’s been using with Amal on one of his Instagram slides.
He prepped Amal’s hair using the Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner, then, after styling, he sandwiched her hair with two hairsprays to keep all that volume locked in. The first? Moroccanoil’s Luminous Hairspray in Extra Strong. The second is the Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Hairspray to keep everything looking smooth and glossy.
As for her makeup, Giannetos stuck to Charlotte Tilbury (a brand long-favored by Amal, who has a lipstick named after her). In his kit, he has the Filmstar Bronze & Glow in Medium-Deep, the contour wand, matte blush wands, and the Exagger-eyes Volume Mascara.
So, short of recruiting Giannetos on to our own glam squad, at least we know some of the secrets behind Amal Clooney’s Venice beauty look.
